On July 18-20, 2023, 19 teachers from Tropical Village National High School attended a Capacity Building on the upcoming National Learning Camp. This 3-day capacity building was planned and organized by SDO General Trias City in the leadership of Dr. Daisy Z. Miranda, Schools Division Superintendent.
It began with an opening program and then, lecture proper followed which was done by Ma’am Lynette P. Rue, Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics and Ma’am Maricel P. Malabanan, Education Program Supervisor in Science.
Among the strategies that was highly recommended to be used in the camp was the brain based learning. Brain Based Learning (BBL) involves a teaching method that limits lectures and encourages exercise breaks, team learning, and peer teaching.
This seminar helped teachers to be ready in the different camps that they will be in once it is started. Attendees were given a chance to listen to lectures about different strategies that can be utilized in teaching the learners who will attend the NLC.
English, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) teachers brainstormed and shared strategies, specifically fun-based activities that would fit best in the lesson.
There were also demonstration lessons which showed the various strategies, approaches, and play-based learning.
Furthermore, three Tropicalian Teachers showed Different Strategies during their Demonstration Teaching held in SDO General Trias City. Ms. Hadassah V. Recare, English Teacher, showed different strategies like interactive story telling and fun-based learning using ICT during her demo-teaching held in SDO General Trias Conference Room. Similarly, Mrs. Lina M. Potante, Master Teacher I, demonstrated a lesson in Science while Mrs. Jenilyn S. Loyola, Master Teacher I, demonstated a lesson in Mathematics.
