To ensure a clean and green environment for Filipino children and future generations, the Department of Education (DepEd) has instructed all public schools nationwide to plant 236K trees. Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte issued DepEd memorandum no. 69 series of 2023, which outlined the guidelines on the implementation of the project entitled “DepEd’s 236K trees – A Christmas Gift for the Children.”
“This is an initiative that aims to promote environmental preservation and instill environmental responsibility among Filipino children,” Duterte said in the DepEd memorandum.
In this connection, Tropical Village National High School headed by Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, participated in the DepEd’s Nationwide 236K Trees – Tree Planting Activity at the Riverside, Tropical Village, San Francisco near the Club house.
According to Dr. Creus, “Here at Tropical Village National High School, we support the Department of Education’s project to plant trees as a Christmas gift for all our Tropicalian learners.
He also added that “We also commit to help our students grow into the best versions of themselves in order to transform our school into a Matatag na Paaralan that embodies Tatak Tropicalian characteristics, mag-aaral na may Talino, Tikas at. Tapang”.
“I am very happy to help and to be part of this program. At DepEdXmasTree, this tree planting program is also one of the best ways to be engaged in our environment. Together with my SSLG officers, we are very thankful for letting us be part of this program” Wafa Omar, SSLG President said.
She also said that she was amazed and proud to be part of this and hoped that this program or mission would be continued in the future.
The said Tree Planting activity was participated by Head Teachers, Master Teachers, OIC-Department Heads, SSLG Officers of the school.
Likewise, TVHOA officers headed by Mr. Albert Añano, and Brgy. Officials headed by Kap. Ryan Santor joined this activity.
