Tropical Village National High School through the Science Department conducted a culminating activity entitled, “Science Culminating Activity: Capturing Learners’ Interest and Demonstrating MELC-Based Competencies in Science,” on April 4, 2025, 7:30am to 1:00 pm at TVNHS Covered Court, which was participated by all teachers and students.
This event aimed to engage students in different competency-based activities, show students’ ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and effectively, and assess students’ understanding and mastery of the subject matter, as well as their ability to apply their knowledge practically.
The event commenced promptly at 7:30 am in the School’s Covered Court. The program began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and opening prayer through an audio-visual presentation. Mrs. Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher I, delivered her opening remarks. This was followed by the Statement of Purpose by Mr. Jomar A. Liveta, Teacher III, who outlined the activity’s objectives as well as the mechanics of the activity.
After the statement of purpose was delivered, the much-anticipated activity officially commenced. Science teachers, together with a group of enthusiastic facilitators, took the lead in organizing and managing a series of engaging and educational games. These activities were carefully crafted based on the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs), ensuring that they were both fun and meaningful for the students.
The sequence of participation began with the Grade 7 students, who eagerly explored the different stations and challenges. They were followed by the Grade 10 students, who enthusiastically joined in the interactive games. Grade 9 students were next, showcasing their teamwork and critical thinking skills. Finally, the Grade 8 students took their turn, bringing the same level of excitement and energy as the previous groups.
Throughout the event, students were visibly thrilled and deeply immersed in the various game-based learning experiences. Laughter, cheers, and words of encouragement echoed around the venue, highlighting the joy and collaborative spirit that the activities fostered among the participants.
As the culminating part of the activity, an awarding ceremony was held to recognize the winners from each grade level. Certificates of recognition were presented to the students who excelled in the games, acknowledging not only their performance but also their enthusiasm and participation. The activity officially concluded at 1:00 PM, leaving everyone energized, inspired, and with cherished memories of a day filled with learning, camaraderie, and fun.
