“DEMO FEST: Sharing Effective Teaching Practices on Classroom Observable Indicators”

In support to D.O. No.035, s.2016 and DM No.17 s.2025, Tropical Village National High School conducted SLAC entitled: “DEMO FEST: Sharing Effective Teaching Practices on Classroom Observable Indicators”on March 13, 2025,1:00pm to 4:00 pm at TVNHS Audiovisual and ICT Room simultaneously, participated by all teaching personnel and selected students.

On the afternoon of March 13, 2025, Tropical Village National High School was abuzz with excitement as, students,teaching and non teaching personnel gathered for the highly anticipated Demo Fest. This event aimed to showcase effective teaching practices through classroom observable indicators, providing a unique opportunity for teachers to learn from one another and enhance their instructional strategies; showcase advanced pedagogical strategies which others can adopt to improve their teaching; reflect on their practices, encouraging self-assessment and professional growth among their colleagues and establish a culture of excellence within the school by setting an example of high-quality instruction.

The event commenced promptly at 1:00 PM in the School’s Audio‐Visual Room. The program began with the registration of all participants facilitated by Mrs. Emely B. Castro, Teacher II. Ms. Hadassah V. Recare, Teacher I and In‐Charge of the Ceremony welcomed all participants. It was followed by singing the Philippine National Anthem and opening prayer through an audio-visual presentation. Mrs. Eva S. Arguelles, Teacher III presented the participants. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, delivered his opening remarks. In his opening remarks, Dr. Creus emphasized the importance of collaborative learning among educators, stating, “Today is not just about observing; it’s about sharing, learning, and growing together as a community of educators dedicated to our students’ success.”

Ms. Laura O. Garcia,CID Chief, also delivered her message during the conduct of SLAC. This was followed by the Statement of Purpose by Mrs. Lina M. Potante, Master Teacher I, who outlined the training’s objectives as well as the mechanics of the activity.

After the statement of purpose, participants had the chance to observe seasoned teachers in action during the breakout sessions, including Mrs. Jennilyn Loyola, Master Teacher II, who led an interactive mathematics lesson that incorporated technology and real-world applications. Students were actively engaged to solve problems collaboratively, while Ms. Jennibeth D. Ilagan, Master Teacher I, skillfully facilitated discussions that encouraged critical thinking in her lesson in English.

Throughout the afternoon, participants were encouraged to jot down their observations and reflections, which fostered rich discussions during the designated debriefing sessions. Teachers shared insights on what worked well in each demonstration and how they could adapt these practices to their classrooms. Ms. Laura O. Garcia, CID Chief, Ms. Arlene M. Hernandez, PSDS of Cluster 9, and Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, gave the demonstrators their technical assistance and suggestions. This collaborative reflection allowed for a deeper understanding of the observable indicators and their impact on student learning. Following the breakout sessions and discussion on classroom observable indicators was the awarding of certificates to the demonstrators, given by Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus together with Ms. Laura O. Garcia, Mrs. Arlene M. Hernandez and Ms. Glecita Columna, EPS in English. Mrs. Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher I,delivered her closing remarks. In her closing remarks, Mrs. Sibulo reiterated the significance of continuous professional development and the commitment of Tropical Village National High School to fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. The Demo Fest concluded at 4:30 PM, leaving participants energized and equipped with new strategies to implement in their teaching practices.
