Reading Teachers Hold 2-day LAC Session on ARAL Program and ARAL Master Class on Reading Remediation Strategies

TVNHS through the English department conducted a LAC Session entitled “LAC Session on ARAL Program and ARAL Series Master Class on Reading Remediation Strategies” on September 15–16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. participated by reading teachers.

The program began with registration, followed by the Makabayan Song via AVP, an opening prayer led by Analyn V. Cabantac, Teacher I, presentation of participants by Mary Anne R. Cabello, Teacher III, and welcome remarks by Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV.

Jennibeth V. Ilagan, Master Teacher I, presented the rationale, activity overview, and setting of expectations.

Jane B. Dacaymat, Teacher III, facilitated Session 1 on the topics “From Struggle to Strength: Empowering ARAL Reading Learners Through SEL-Based Remediation Program Profiling, Placement, Pathways, and Pedagogies” and “The Teacher as ARAL Tutor: Phonemic Awareness for Early Readers, Decoding for Beginning Readers.”

During Session 2, Jennibeth V. Ilagan, Master Teacher I, comprehensively discussed “Developing Vocabulary for Reading Comprehension and Building Fluency for Reading Comprehension.”

Mary Anne R. Cabello, Teacher III, led Session 3 on “ARAL-Reading Basic and ARAL Reading Plus (for Key Stage 3),” followed by Lynn T. Dimacali, Teacher III, who handled Session 4 on “Questioning Techniques for Reading Comprehension and From Remediation to Individualized Intervention.”

Before the LAC session ended, Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, asked the participants about the issues they encounter with their students during their reading sessions.

Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, and Mrs. Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher I, awarded certificates of recognition to the speakers and TWGs, as well as certificates of participation to attendees.

Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher I, delivered her closing remarks at the conclusion of the two-day LAC session.

The program provided valuable insights for ARAL tutors regarding their tasks and responsibilities, ensuring the implementation of effective strategies to support ARAL learners.
