In support of DepEd Memorandum No. 001, s. 2024, titled “Implementation of Catch-up Fridays,” Tropical Village National High School initiated a Deworming symposium that was participated by selected Grade 7-10 learners on February 23.
The symposium began with a message from Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV. During his speech, he emphasized the importance the importance of practicing good hygiene and self-care.
The activity comprised a discussion on what is worm infection and the different types of worms that can enter a person’s body. Signs and symptoms of parasitic infection was reiterated during the activity.
The speaker, Ms. Sharon Cainto,Brgy. San Francisco Health Worker discussed the benefits of deworming and its effects on the body.
Moreover, adverse effects on one’s health to a human being such as loss of appetite, weight loss, and immune deficiency due to worms were also mentioned.
Preventions were also enumerated such as proper hygiene, washing hands, drinking clean water, taking deworming medicines every six months, and cooking the food we eat thoroughly that can be followed to avoid worm infection.
Before the program ended, questions and queries were also entertained during the program for information dissemination.
The said symposium ended by fulfilling its goal of raising awareness about the importance of deworming the learner’s body.
