TVNHS Conducts Rollout on Early Language and Literacy Focusing on the Science of Reading
In line with DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2023, the DepEd MATATAG Agenda, DepEd Order No. 09, s. 2024, and SM No. 2024-08-001, TVNHS conducted the Rollout on Early Language & Literacy” focusing on the Science of Reading which was participated by selected teachers on September 24.
The program began with the registration of all participants. It was followed by the opening prayer and national anthem through an audio-visual presentation. Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, gave his opening remarks. It was followed by messages from Sir Rogin O. Contemprato, PSDS-Cluster 8 and Ma. Glecita C. Columna, EPS-English.
Ms. Jennibeth V. Ilagan, Teacher III, presented the statement of purpose, then followed by Mrs. Mary Ann R. Cabello, Teacher III, for the presentation of participants and she introduced the resource speaker.
Moreover, Mrs. Jane B. Dacaymat, Teacher III and Reading Coordinator, discussed comprehensively on the topic “Rollout on Early Language and Literacy Focusing on the Science of Reading.”
She explained how the science of reading works in the learners and discussed the evidence why some of the learners have difficulty in reading while some learners have proficiency in reading.
he emphasized the components and pillars in reading which are: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Mrs. Dacaymat focused on each component that plays an important and crucial role in developing strong reading skills and attain increasing chances of learners to learn how to read proficiently and comprehensively. She also gave some of the methods and activities that will enhance and will sustain the learning awareness of the learners.
After the discussion of Mrs. Dacaymat, Mrs. Dayren B. Bawalan, Teacher III, initiated the open forum to the participants. Some of the participants gave their experiences in handling students who are struggling in reading and gave their best practices to improve. After the open forum, Mrs. Mariglo S. Bayot, Head Teacher III and Mrs. Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher I, presented and awarded the certificate of recognition to the resource speaker and to the technical working group.
The participants were equipped with new information and knowledge presented to them. Mrs. Susan C. Sibulo, Head Teacher, gave her closing remarks.
The program concluded successfully yesterday Sept. 24, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
