Tropical Village National High School, under the supervision of Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, school principal, and the Mathematics Department headed by Mrs. Lea P. Amon (Head Teacher I), conducted a four-day activity in celebration of the Mathematics Festival 2025 with the theme “Mathematics, Art, and Creativity from March 17-20, 2025.
On the first day, Mrs. Arlene V. Ferrer, Teacher III, facilitated the Giant DAMATH competition on March 17, 2025, at the audio-visual room. Selected Grade 10 students demonstrated their critical thinking skills and mathematical abilities in the Giant DAMATH competition. After a series of matches, Grade 10-Aphrodite dominated the game, becoming the Giant DAMATH Champion, while Grade 10-Eros claimed second place and Grade 10-Artemis secured third place.
In the afternoon, Mr. Jose M. Amparo, Teacher III, facilitated the SUDOKU competition, which was open to all Grade 7 students. Sharmen B. Brillo (Grade 7-Generous won first place, while John Allen D. Loyola (Grade 7-Honest) and Reign L. Teves (Grade 7-Patriotic) bagged second and third place, respectively.
Mrs. Lea P. Amon, Head Teacher I, facilitated the poster-making contest, which was open to all levels. Students showcased their skills and creativity based on the given theme for the Math Festival. This event was held on March 18, 2025, at the audio-visual room. Sophia Nicole Romen (Grade 11-HUMSS) won first place, while Aaliyah Mai M. Penpeña (Grade 11-Aphrodite) and Jhoanna Tadeo (Grade 11) claimed second and third place, respectively.
On the other hand, Mrs. Jenilyn S. Loyola, Master Teacher II, facilitated the Math Warriors competition, which was open to Grade 11 students in the afternoon. The top three winners were Graciala Latoja from Grade 11-ABM (first place), followed by Mart Denver Gillego (second place) and Manuleito D. Maliwat (third place), both from Grade 11-HUMSS.
In addition, students from the Back to Square One Intervention Program, under the guidance of Ms. Arlyn F. Pasa, Teacher II, participated in the Quiz Bee competition. The top three winners were Mico John B. Cajepe (1st place) from Grade 7-Faithful, King David B. Soriano (2nd place) from Grade 7-Courteous, and James Khalil H. Biolanda (3rd place) from Grade 7-Courteous.
On the third day, Mrs. Arlene B. Payaban, Teacher II, facilitated the Mathematics Quiz Bee for Grade 9 students on March 19, 2025, at the audio-visual room. The top three winners were John Rhaiver Pabico from Grade 9-Calcium (1st place), TJ Ron M. Dalisay from Grade 9-Sodium (2nd place), and Resnan Jade L. Teves from Grade 9-Magnesium (3rd place). In addition, Mr. Joey M. Dolindo, Teacher I, facilitated the Mathok Bola competition on the same day. Grade 8 students showcased their strategies and physical abilities, along with their skills in Mathematics, during the Mathok Bola competition at the TVNHS covered court. Grade 8-Alvarez dominated the game, followed by Grade 8-Tirona and Grade 8-Topacio.
Lastly, TVNHS teachers did not miss the opportunity to play in the Giant DAMATH competition and accepted the challenge. They showcased their critical thinking and mathematical skills while playing against students, which was held on March 20, 2025, at Room NB06. The awarding of winners took place afterward at the TVNHS covered court during the closing program. Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus highlighted the significance of Mathematics in his opening remarks, while Mrs. Lea P. Amon delivered the closing remarks following the awarding of medals and certificates.
The Mathematics Department extended their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the students and teachers who participated in the celebration. Indeed, TVNHS is a home of students who embody the characteristics of Talino, Tikas, and Tapang.
