To address the needs of learners with special needs, Tropical Village National High School conducted an orientation for teachers of learners with special needs entitled “Orientation on the Transition Curriculum Program for Learners with Special Education Needs -Secondary Level”, earlier today at the Multi-purpose Room.
Dr. Mark Airon P. Creus, Principal IV, headed the orientation. And it was facilitated by the Technical Working Group led by Mrs. Angelita P. Allarey, Teacher III, Inclusion Coordinator and Ms. Irene M. Dulay, Teacher III, Child Protection Policy Coordinator.
Dr. Maria Heidi Alaine V. Tahir, EPS – SPED/Inclusive Education, shared her knowledge and expertise on Special Education Program implemented by the Department of Education.
She tackled comprehensively the Transition Curriculum Program for Learners with Special Education Needs, and explained what the teachers could do to help students with disabilities or manifestations. Also, she mentioned that these learners will require special attention and adjustments in the curriculum.
She also introduced the different materials that teachers may use for the students to acquire the necessary skills that they need to familiarize and master. These skills are the following; care skills, survival skills, functional skills, life skills and many others.
Indeed, this activity ended successfully, and everyone was enlightened about the topic.
